Das Kangra House ist seit vier Generationen unser Familienhaus, das um einen steinernen Innenhof mit einem Peepal in der Mitte gebaut wurde. Wir sind nur einen kurzen Spaziergang von der Tempelstraße und dem Bhagsu-Pfad entfernt, aber weit genug oben, dass man eher Glocken als Verkehr hört. Die Mahlzeiten sind vegetarisch, werden von meiner Mutter zubereitet und bei schönem Wetter im Innenhof serviert.

Dharamshala rises from the Kangra valley to McLeod Ganj at 2,000 m, under the Dhauladhar wall. It has been the seat of the Tibetan government-in-exile since 1960, which is why the temple road, the momo stalls and the Norbulingka craft workshops sit alongside an older Kangra town of courtyard houses and slate roofs. Bhagsu's waterfall is a short walk; Triund is the ridge everyone climbs; and the monsoon here is among the heaviest in India.
